And look, this is notable because this streaming series, The Savant, was adapted from a 2019 Cosmopolitan article titled, Is it possible to stop a mass shooting before it happens? This show here is about an investigator who essentially infiltrates online hate groups. And the star of the show, Jessica Chastain, released her own statement this afternoon, saying that, look, she's not aligned on this decision to pause the release of the show. She then listed examples of some recent political violence, including the attempted kidnapping of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the January 6th, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the two assassination attempts on President Donald Trump, the assassination of a Democratic lawmaker in Minnesota, and the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. Her statement goes on to say, quote, I've never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn't so relevant, unfortunately it is, adding, quote, The Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever, end quote.
