Toronto Blue Jays fans across the country haven't seen a run like this in almost a decade. Tonight in Toronto, the team is going to play Seattle in game one of the American League Championship Series. That's just one step away from the World Series, where the Jays last reached in 1993. CBC's Greg Ross joins us now from Rogers Centre with a preview of the game. So Greg, let's start with who's in the game and who is not. Well, we know that the Blue Jays released their American League Championship roster at about 10 o'clock this morning, and I think the focus is who is not on that roster, because many fans were hoping that their big star, Bo Bichette, and I think these fans right here who came in from Halifax, Nova Scotia, all wearing their Bo Bichette jerseys, well, they were hoping that he would be on the lineup. They got the bad news today, despite the fact that they got in the car at 5 o'clock yesterday morning, drove 19 hours to get here, only to find out there will be no Bo Bichette in the lineup. I don't think that's a big deal, because you're just excited to watch the Blue Jays in the playoffs. Oh, definitely, yes. And you're pretty confident that they'll be okay without Bo, especially after the way they hit against the Yankees? Absolutely. And I think we just need to make sure we save him for the last round. That's the World Series. That would be the last round would be the World Series. A couple of other players that are on the roster, one, Chris Bassett, two, Max Scherzer, two starting pitchers who were left off the postseason roster for the American League Division Series. And now the Blue Jays electing to go with three starters. And then they did that successful bullpen start against the Yankees in game four. It worked. Because that's the reason we're here right now. But the Blue Jays deciding to switch things up. It looks like they will be going to a four-man rotation in this series. How do you feel about that with Scherzer and Chris Bassett back in the starting rotation? I absolutely love it. You know, we faced Seattle multiple times. All these pitchers have tackled their lineup multiple times. Coach has got it figured out. They know the game plan. They know how they want to dissect it. They know how they want to go at it. And I'm just happy that we get to witness it, happy we get to see it. After what Gosman said, after that ALDS in the locker room, we're fired up. I would run through a brick wall for him right now. And I hope he'd do the same for us right now. So, that's all I want, you know. And then hopefully we get Trey Savage tomorrow. I'm ready to go. I appreciate you not repeating exactly what Kevin Gosman said in that postseason interview because we wouldn't be able to air that here on CBC News Network. But let's.. I mean, Max Scherzer. Scherzer is a guy with more postseason experience than just about anybody that's going to be playing in this series. So, that's key for the Blue Jays, having a guy with that kind of experience. He did struggle towards the end of the season. He had a couple of really difficult starts. But I think the Blue Jays must like what they see as he's throwing out of the bullpen. He continued to throw and try to be ready for this American League Championship Series. They must be happy with what they've seen from him. Chris Bassett was dealing with some injury problems. He had some lower back pain. He seems to be ready to go as well. So, they do have some options. It's not clear who will start. But it doesn't matter. You guys are feeling pretty good about game one versus the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners, two nights ago, just played an epic marathon, 15 inning game. Exhausted a lot of their pitchers. How important is that that this team is coming in tired against these Jays? Oh, I was up until like 1 a.m. watching that game. I was super excited all the way. I think Bryce Miller, he's their fifth starter. He's going to be like.. The adrenaline will get him through innings one or two. So, if we can get two runs off of him, his arms are going to blow out. They're going to have to resort to a very weak bullpen. And we got this. This man from Hamilton, Ontario, got the eye blue underneath. Ready to go. Cheering on his Blue Jays. He's got that white panel hat as well that the Jays are wearing. They say it's their good luck charm. I'll tell you what. I don't know if they're going to need it. But the Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, game one here at the Rogers Centre, just after 8 o'clock tonight, his first pitch. Okay.
