An inmate has been recaptured after escaping custody in Philadelphia Thursday. CBS News Philadelphia reports.

An inmate named Taekwon Wilson escaped from custody while being taken to a hearing at the Delaware County courthouse in Media, Pennsylvania. He exited the courthouse through a fire escape door and evaded police for approximately two hours before being recaptured near Fifth and Broomhall Streets, close to Media Elementary School.

Law enforcement agencies including the FBI, U.S. Marshal's Office, Pennsylvania State Police, and local police departments conducted a thorough search of the area, which involved checking residents' backyards and under decks. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the security breach that led to the escape and plans to implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Law enforcement sources tell us Taekwon Wilson also got out of his cups, got away from police and then left the Delaware County courthouse through a fire escape door. Police say he was recaptured within two hours of his escape. Police say the prisoner was taken back into custody on Brumall Street around Fifth Street. This is right by Media Elementary School. Police were asking everyone in that area to shelter in place. But again, that prisoner has been captured. CBS News Philadelphia reporter Madeline Wright is live right now in media where we just got an update from officials. Good afternoon, Madeline. Good afternoon, Jim. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office says a full investigation is underway into the security lapse that led to the inmate's escape. Residents tell us that the inmate was hiding in the weeds when he was captured right here near the area of Heritage Park. Take a look. This is the mugshot of Taekwon Wilson. Court records show he has a lengthy rap sheet, including receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and reckless driving. Authorities say he escaped from the custody of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office around 8 30 this morning. Law enforcement officials from the local, state and federal level saturated the area around the courthouse and media. The FBI, U. S. Marshal's Office, Pennsylvania State Police, Radnor Police, Nether Providence Police and other agencies all responded. The inmate was finally captured around Fifth and Broomhall Streets around 10 30 this morning. The Delaware County Sheriff says his office is planning to take steps to make sure this doesn't happen again. We'll have to conduct an investigation, which we are presently doing. See where there were any mistakes made, where security measures were overlooked, and we will actually try to grow from whatever is revealed during the two hour manhunt. Police were searching people's backyards and also searching underneath their decks with flashlights. Residents say that it was very scary, and this type of thing hasn't happened in decades.
