Well, Denver 7 is continuing to press immigrations and Customs Enforcement for answers after reports of several operations in our mountain towns today. Immigrant advocates and community members reached out to us, sharing concerns over reported ice presence near Dylan. Just last week we told you about an ice conducting an operation at a Mexican restaurant in Frisco. Homeland Security Investigations is issued a criminal warrant September 16th at Hacienda Real, and I says two people there were detained. Tonight, Denver 7 news. Ryan Fish talk with residents in Dylan about the concerns and about this trend. Still a lot of unanswered questions about the federal law enforcement activity that took place up here in the high country on Thursday. But what is clear is many here in this small tight knit community are feeling fearful. It's heartbreaking and it's terrifying. There is a human toll here that feels cruel and inhumane. I've been here over 25 years and we've never seen something like this. Reports of a second law enforcement operation in a week in Summit County, one of Colorado's biggest tourist destinations in home to many immigrants. It doesn't surprise me because it's been on the news everywhere else, but we weren't expecting it. The Summit Daily reports an ice operation started in Dylan Thursday morning with other federal agencies assisting sources till Denver 7. Multiple people were detained, but it's unclear how many or if any criminal warrants were involved. We pressed ice for those answers. The agency responding. Discuss ongoing or future operations. It's statement saying in part quote ice is executing its mission of identifying and removing criminal aliens and others who have violated our nation's immigration laws. We all come to this country to make it better. If you come to this country to break the law, I think you should be sent back. But if you're just, you know, trying to make a living and making this country great like we have for so long. I just don't see why why we're doing this. I heard a lot of that confusion this evening. I mean, I think for Summit County this is not a political issue. This is humanity because everybody knows everybody here. It's a very real experience. It's not about some sort of random person on the news. It's about who your kid play soccer with and you know who you might see at church and suddenly people are not here anymore. There's also concern about an economic toll for the people living here. As much as this is a place of leisure for others, those of us who live up here. It's very hand to mouth and you really have to be fighting it and you have to be able to be at work every day just to make rent and for the rest of the state, people are afraid people don't want to go to work anymore. That's going to affect us as business owners. Tourists who come here and expect a certain level of service simply won't be given that level of service because we don't have the people available to do that. This is not the only mountain community seeing this route. County Sheriff and Steamboat Springs Police tell us they're aware of possible immigration enforcement actions in their area too.
