Al Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, is experiencing severe food shortages as the city remains under siege amid ongoing fighting between Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Residents report having little to eat except animal feed, with even these supplies dwindling. The RSF has blocked food deliveries and attacked aid convoys, including a UN convoy in which five aid workers were killed. The city is under constant artillery and drone attacks, leaving markets deserted and food prices unaffordable. The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, with daily deaths reported as access to basic necessities remains cut off.

The north Darfur capital is the largest remaining front line in fighting between Sudan's army and the paramilitary rapid support forces. It's been under siege for over a year. We're suffering so much from no food, no water, we're hungry, our children are naked, we have nothing to eat but animal feed, there's no water, we have nothing. And even this is starting to run out. As the RSF tries to take the city, which would give it control over most of Darfur, they've been blocking food supplies and attacking aid convoys headed there. There was another convoy, a UN convoy with 15 trucks that tried to reach al-Fasher at the very beginning of June, it could not and there were five people, five aid workers that were killed at this moment and since then no more convoy has been able to reach. Under constant artillery and drone attacks by the paramilitary group, markets in the city lie almost deserted and what little food can be found is unaffordable.
