The towns of Longwood and Harcourt have been particularly hard hit, with significant property and livestock losses reported. 

Emergency services, including nearly 300 firefighters from New South Wales, have joined local crews to battle the blazes and support isolated communities. Community centers have seen an outpouring of donations, while residents express concern for animals left behind. Improved weather conditions are currently aiding firefighting efforts, but authorities remain vigilant as the situation continues to evolve.

When the Longwood fire tore through Dallas Goodwin's property, he was forced to shelter in a dam for three hours. I thought to myself, this is it, like I was standing there and I just pictured myself laying face down behind my ute and it was just so, everything happened so quick and it's hard to make a decision. With his ute blocked by a fallen tree, he walked to safety once the fire had passed. His tale of loss and survival echoed across the community. Everyone's just looking at each other and everyone can see each other's hurt and you're hugging him, crying with strangers you don't even know. 400,000 hectares have burned in the worst bushfire condition since the Black Summer. An estimated 15,000 livestock have perished, including seven horses at Lindsay Park, owned by famed trainer David Hayes. We've now got over 1,000 agricultural properties that have potentially seen an impact. The Gunya Animal Sanctuary has lost feed, but miraculously only one animal perished. Amazingly, somehow they all stood in smouldering paddocks and survived. Owner Cathy Munslow has been returning to care for the survivors, but with no phone coverage it's a dangerous task. There's just no Telstra at all, so it's quite frightening because there's still fires going up even now and you can't get Vic Emergency app, you can't get internet, you can't text people. The cavalry from north of the border arrived at Longwood. Almost 300 RFS members joining Victorian firefighters with the emergency far from over. It means that the local crews can stand down and have a rest. This strike team arrived from New South Wales last night to relieve exhausted CFA members who've been at this for almost a week now. Right now they're trying to clear the roads to allow supply trucks to get through to isolated communities. At the community centre in Castle Main, donations are piling up. Oh well we've been inundated with so much community support. With 50 homes lost in nearby Harcourt, many don't know when it will be safe to return and what, if anything, has survived. I'm not worried about the house and I'm not worried about positions, I'm more worried about the animals I've left behind. Over 300 structures have been lost across the state, at least 100 are homes, with Longwood and Harcourt recording the biggest losses so far.
