The AI acts like a tutor, offering explanations and even transforming drawings into videos, which aligns with Do-hun's fascination with space. Kim believes that AI can enhance his son's creativity and knowledge by answering questions that parents might not readily know, thereby nurturing his curiosity.

As AI becomes increasingly prominent in both public and private education across South Korea, experts emphasize the importance of adjusting AI interaction based on children's ages. Critical thinking is deemed essential, and the focus should remain on a child's ability to view AI as a tool rather than as an omnipotent source of knowledge. There are rising concerns about the role of AI in tracking student learning, as some fear that reliance on AI for curriculum decisions may undermine human input in educational choices.

Kim advocates for an educational approach where children are taught how to use AI productively and avoid dependence. He views AI as a lifelong tool that should support, rather than control, creativity and education. What does it mean to raise a child in the age of AI? One father is finding out through play. Kim Joon-gu writes prompts so that the AI acts like a tutor, explaining concepts for his space-fascinated son. It also gives ideas for drawings and turns them into videos. Hi, I'm Kim Joon-gu. Nice to meet you. Today, we're going to make a special fairy tale book just for you. We go to the library first, once in a week, and then we explore some books. And then we make like a normal drawing sessions with using the AI. Five-year-old Do-hun loves planets and sometimes asks more questions than his parents can answer. He asked me, what is Yota? And actually, I didn't have any idea what Yota means. I googled, but I didn't have any answers of it. And I just asked to check if it just typed, even misspelled the Yota. It just gave the right answer what it is. And I found that it could be really great if I make some knowledge power for him because the creativity comes from the curiosity, but I believe that that creativity can grow from knowledge. So I found the potential that AI could help out those kinds of creativity growth. Experts say the time spent with AI should be adjusted according to children's ages. They also say critical thinking is key. The focus should not be on AI alone. What is more important is how does that child view creativity. If the child does not have any educational experience on learning about how to view these technologies, then the child will just view it as someone with greater power and knowledge. And that will eventually lead to obeying to the technology. I see that. Yes, I can see that. Across South Korea, AI is becoming a growing presence in public and private education. But the speed and direction of these developments have raised concerns, especially when the tech is used in tracking students' learning. They're trying to create a big data of students and try to decide what they should learn. And I think that is a big problem right now, because what students should learn should be, it should be decided by teachers and students themselves. It should be decided by humans, not by machines, because right now AI is a black box. We don't know what's going on in there. So it's a very good example of how AI is already controlling the society. Kim says he approaches AI with caution, but believes it's important to teach children to use it as a lifelong tool through play without depending on it. My idea is they need to know that how they can leverage in terms of using AI for their creativity and their education. European policymakers are moving to introduce AI literacy in education, a step UNESCO calls essential to bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusion.
