A Brisbane home that has stood untouched for decades will go to auction at the end of the month. Dubbed a time capsule, the property's inside has remained a mystery for local residents.

The property, noted for its well-preserved features such as gold-edged pressed metal ceilings, has been a point of curiosity for locals for many years. 

The house is believed to have connections to a family for over a century, with some evidence suggesting it may have served as a medical facility during wartime. Urban legends surround the property, including stories of the last family abruptly leaving in the early 1990s with the dinner table still set. The listing marks an opportunity for new owners to restore and create new memories in the storied residence.

Welcome to the house where time stood still. It's been so untouched that it makes it a very unique place and I've never seen anything like it. Steeped in mystery, filled with history, the grand old property has sat on a corner in the Brisbane suburb of Paddington, locked up and left for at least 30 years. It's been one of those homes that people have walked past, driven past for decades and wondered, well, what's inside? Every corner is a reminder of days gone by, from magazines to medicines. Inside is remarkably well kept, the gold-edged pressed metal ceilings immaculate. Some believe it was also used as a medical facility during the war, perhaps inside the unusual brick add-on out the back. At one stage, a family member who lived here did work as a pharmacist, but a lot has been lost, including any details of when the home was actually built, likely turn of the century. But we did find that the family that owns it now has had a connection with this property for at least 100 years. Every old home has a story and different people provide different elements to that story, whether it's the family, locals and all the rest of it. Perhaps the most intriguing urban legend that comes with the house is about the last family who was here. The story goes that they abruptly left in the early 90s, the dinner table was still set, there was still a pantry full of food. It's almost as if they just disappeared. 31 Parrot Street is now on the market. Adults will see the potential, children may think it's haunted, but it's time this home was filled with new stories.
