The heat has prompted health warnings, with authorities urging the public not to leave children or animals in vehicles and to exercise caution around water, following several recent drownings.

The Bureau of Meteorology has stated this could be the most significant heatwave in the region in six years. Residents are seeking ways to stay cool, flocking to beaches, lakes, and even cold storage facilities, while emergency crews respond to bushfires in Victoria.

So I cannot stress enough that do not leave children or animals in a vehicle for any length of time. Seven people have drowned in New South Wales since New Year's Eve, leaving authorities pleading for care and caution. Whether that be slow down on the water, whether that be swim between the flags. Over the border in Victoria, out of control bushfires are a reminder of the danger the heat brings. Crews from New South Wales are now heading south to lend a hand. The Bureau of Meteorology has warned this could be the most significant heatwave Australia's south east has experienced in six years. So it's imperative to find shelter wherever you can. If you're looking for the coolest place to beat the heat, perhaps this is your answer. It might be hitting the mid 30s outside, but inside here at the Meat Emporium in Alexandria, it's a chilly three degrees. I think most people will be spending time here, definitely.
