Sun halos, often referred to as rainbow clouds, are a visually striking and rare weather phenomenon. They occur due to cloud iridescence, which happens when small water droplets or ice crystals in the atmosphere scatter sunlight, creating colorful displays.

These halos are most commonly observed on top of cumulus clouds and tend to appear during hot and humid afternoons. Witnessing a sun halo is considered uncommon, making it a special event for those who are able to capture it in photos or video.
