The proposed legislation, which has already passed the Senate and is now before the House, does not allocate funds for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or Border Patrol.

Republican leaders plan to pursue funding for ICE and Border Patrol through the budget reconciliation process, which does not require Democratic support in the Senate. If the House approves the current bill, it will be sent to President Trump, who has indicated he will sign it into law.

The ayes appear to have it, the ayes do have it. The motion is agreed to. The U.S. Senate did its part, clearing the way early this morning, passing the bill along to the House. It's a complete turnaround for Johnson, who last week had this to say about the bill. This gamut that was done last night is a joke. I'm quite convinced that it can't be that every Senate Republican read the language of this bill. Johnson has his work cut out to convince the hardline conservatives in his party to sign onto the bill. And Democrats are claiming victory. I'd hate to say that they caved. That would be insulting them. I would rather say that they saw the wisdom of what the Senate had done. This was good for the country. The bill funds DHS partially, with no money going towards ICE or Border Patrol. Thune and Johnson say they will now try to get these agencies funded through the budget reconciliation process, which requires no Democratic votes in the Senate. Of all the options that are out there, this is the best option. It is a way that takes care of everybody today and into the future. If the House passes the bills, those would then go to President Trump's desk, where he's indicated he would sign them into law. In New York, Caroline Elliott, Fox Chicago.
