Water rushed into subway stations cascading downstairs as the rainfall just battered the city. The storm also swamped roads and closed part of the westbound Long Island Expressway. The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan as rain fell at more than an inch per hour.
