According to the Post, 70 per cent of 2 million accounts that voted said he should. Once he was back on the platform, Jones wasted no time before soliciting money from his followers. Conspiracy theories have been lucrative for Jones, who made a fortune selling books, films, t-shirts and snake oil dietary supplements. Last year, he declared bankruptcy after courts ordered him to pay $1.5 billion to the families of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. He had spread lies that the killing of 20 children and seven adults was a hoax. The families have now offered to settle for a fraction of that sum, but Jones' lawyers claim he still can't afford their demands. Jones is just the latest high-profile far-right figure to be unbanned from ex under Musk's ownership. Others include former US President Donald Trump, misogynist influencer and accused human trafficker Andrew Tate and controversial former academic Jordan Peterson. As ex continues to lurch further to the right, advertisers have been abandoning it, as have many users, with traffic falling by 15 per cent over the past year. Its value has dropped even faster. The platform that Musk bought for $44 billion is now worth $19 billion.
