The wildfire continues to burn on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and firefighters say that area is one of the most difficult places to fight a blaze.

With containment at just 9%, it is the largest fire ever recorded at the Grand Canyon. The fire has destroyed around 70 structures, including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge, and is affecting tourism on both the north and south rims. Crews are currently working to protect the Kaibab Lodge, which remains standing, but the fire has jumped containment lines, complicating efforts to control it.
