The United Nations reported that 25 aid trucks had entered Gaza, where thousands gathered in hopes of receiving food. Witnesses and the World Food Program stated that Israeli tanks, snipers, and gunfire targeted the crowds, while the Israeli military said it fired warning shots to address a perceived threat. The incident at the Zikim crossing resulted in at least 67 fatalities.

This comes after the IDF issued evacuation orders in the city, urging residents to move towards the enclave's coastline. Raimi, do we have any indication as to why so many people were killed on Sunday trying to get to food and aid they need so desperately? Well, Errol, it really has been chaos at all of these distribution sites over the past couple months when humanitarian organizations have tried to ramp up this desperately needed food aid into Gaza. Thousands of Gazans trying to get this, Israel's military either firing warning shots or, according to witnesses, into those crowds to try to keep them back. The IDF is also blaming Hamas for what it says is causing more chaos. And with those new death numbers that you just said on Sunday, it was one of the most lethal days for Gazans trying to get that aid. Most of those killed were near the northern border with Israel at a crossing called Zikim. Now, this was an incident with the UN World Food Program. And I say this because we've been talking about the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. The GHF says they are not part of this incident. But the UN said that 25 of its aid trucks had crossed in. Thousands of people were waiting. Then those crowds were, at some point, shot at, the World Food Program said, specifically, though, blaming Israeli tanks, snipers and other gunfire. The IDF, though, did say that it fired warning shots to remove some kind of threat. But we know that at that particular incident, at least 67 people died. All right, Remy, we appreciate the update.
