Health risks are rising as cold, damp conditions lead to increased respiratory infections, especially among children and the elderly, while flooding mixes sewage with dirty water. Aid organizations warn that essential winter supplies, such as insulated tents and warm clothing, are barely reaching the camps, leaving hundreds of thousands of displaced families struggling to survive each rainfall.

So I'm walking through one of the displacement areas in Gaza City and as you can see around me, winter is already here and it's hitting people really hard. Just look at the ground, the heavy rain not only destroyed many of the makeshift tents in this displacement area, but turned the camp into mud field here. Family is telling us their tents are flooded inside, they're sleeping on wet mattresses, their blankets are soaked with water and their clothes are drenched. I'm a resident of the Al Shajaya neighborhood and displaced here in this area. We face several challenges and obstacles on the ground. The sheets and tents are all worn out. The past 48 hours have been very difficult, with the majority of the tents submerged or flooded with rainwater. Wet mattresses, soaked blankets and drenched clothes, everything is facing a challenge now. You don't know what to do to help yourself or help those around you. And the sad part, this is only the beginning of the winter season. Temperatures are dropping every night and the strong wind cuts through these thin plastic sheets as if they were not here. Imagine you are inside a tent sleeping and all of a sudden it bursts down with water all over you. There is nothing here to protect families and children. All tents and plastic sheeting are worn out. Think of how many were forced into displacement, twice and three times, and people use the same tents. Parents say they spend the whole night trying to keep their children warm. But without proper blankets, without winter clothes and without heating fuel, it's almost impossible. And you know, direct byproduct of this is the serious health risk here. Cold and worsening conditions mean more respiratory infections, especially among children and the elderly. And when the camps have flooded, dirty water mixes with sewage, creating a perfect environment for diseases. Aid organizations warn that the winter-specific supplies, things like turpulence, insulated tents, warm clothing, are barely trickling in. People simply don't have what they need to survive this season safely. As winter sets in, Gaza is not only facing cold weather, but another layer of danger on top of already deteriorating humanitarian catastrophe.
