The shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory rally was not a case of terrorism or homegrown violent extremism, authorities said Thursday. "This appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire," said Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves.

This is the scene in front of Union Station in Kansas City after more than 20 people were shot and one person was killed following a Super Bowl celebration for the Kansas City Chiefs. There is still a considerable police presence here as police try to piece together exactly what happened. You can see the trash that is on the ground here. Thousands of people were gathered as players and coaches were giving celebratory speeches when those gunshots rang out around 2 PM yesterday afternoon Central Time video from that chiefs celebration. Sheen shows people scurrying away, not knowing where those gunshots had come from. Some people made it into Union Station and barricaded themselves. Local officials tell us that three people have been apprehended and are being questioned about the shooting. Witnesses tell us that some bystanders were able to wrestle one of the gunman to the ground holding him there until police were able to apprehend them. We talked to one of those witnesses as well as the mayor shortly after the shooting occurred. Heard somebody yelling to. Stop this guy. Tackle him and he was. Coming in the opposite direction. So. I just you don't think about it. Just a reaction. This is absolutely a tragedy, the likes of which we would have never expected in Kansas City and the likes of which we will remember for some time. We will continue to make sure that those who committed these acts are brought to justice. Police have identified the one woman who was killed as Lisa Lopez. She was in her mid 40s, a popular local DJ here. She has two adult sons. We also learned Thursday morning that one of the people who was in critical condition is also her husband. Police have said that this is not a terrorist attack that it was an. Isolated criminal event. This is also not the first time that a celebration of this nature has turned violent last spring after the Denver Nuggets won their NBA championship. More than 10 people were injured. After a shooting broke out in downtown Denver during that celebration, and most recently as November, a shooting occurred in Dallas when the Texas Rangers were celebrating their World Series championship.
