Emergency services transported Wilger to a hospital in Perth, where she is recovering. Her disappearance had prompted an extensive search involving specialist trackers and aerial support. Friends, family, and police expressed relief at her safe recovery, calling it the best possible outcome after a challenging ordeal.

She basically looked at the direction of the sun and tried to head west, thinking that that would be her best bet of coming across someone or a road. Carolina presented as exhausted, dehydrated, and hungry. She had minor injuries, such as cuts and bruises. Carolina was transported directly to a Perth hospital where she spent the night, her friends and family elated by the news, waiting for her safe return. I'd definitely throw my arms around her and maybe get a bit mad, because like, what the f*** are you doing? Sorry for that, but. We never gave up hope that Carolina would be found safe and well. And this is truly the best outcome and best result we could have wished for. It was along this bush track in Bimbaji where German backpacker Carolina Vilger was found yesterday afternoon after missing for almost two weeks. Tanya Henley, who owns the Bimbaji station, was on her way back home from Beacon when she spotted the 26-year-old just before 4 p.m. She raised the alarm with emergency services before taking Carolina to the town's airstrip. The young woman was loaded onto a police plane and taken to hospital in Perth in a fragile condition, but with only minor injuries. Carolina had last been seen at the general store in Beacon on June 29, her disappearance sparking a mammoth search effort. Police this past week finding her van abandoned in the Caroon Hill area, about 100 kilometers from where she was last seen. Specialist trackers were called in to help because the area was so rugged and difficult. Officers in the sky spotting her bogged van deep in dense bushland. It is an amazing story of survival, but after such a traumatic ordeal, police say Carolina is now taking it one day at a time as she recovers.
