Tesla sales have slumped across Europe, but one country appears to be bucking the trend. CNBC's Sam Meredith reports.

Factors contributing to Tesla's popularity in Norway include the vehicles' value for money, features suited to local needs, and a robust charging network.

Norway's leadership in electric vehicle adoption, supported by tax and user incentives, has played a significant role in Tesla's resilience in the market. Despite reputational challenges and increased competition affecting Tesla in other European countries, the brand has maintained a strong market share in Norway, accounting for about 17% of new car sales over six months.

Bucking the trend? Tesla's Norway sales skyrocket

I'm in Norway, where Tesla sales have been skyrocketing. Sales jumped 54% in June and 213% in May, bucking a sustained downward trend across the rest of Europe. Elon Musk's signature brand has been hit hard by a mix of reputational damage, Musk's waning popularity and fierce competition. So what is it about Norway that makes it a rare bright spot for Tesla? I think it just has to do with the fact that they deliver a car, which is quite a lot of value for money. What Norwegians need, a large luggage space, all-wheel drive and a tow hitch, high ground clearance as well. In addition, quite good digital solutions, which people have gotten used to and also a charging network. Tesla has seen some green shoots in Spain and Portugal of late, but it's a very different story in Germany. Sales in Europe's historic auto hub collapsed after Musk endorsed the far-right AFD party. The carmaker's troubles across Europe come despite the region's EV market enjoying a sense of renewed momentum. Perhaps Norway's leadership in EV adoption has something to do with Tesla's resilience here. We have a lot of incentives, both tax incentives and user incentives are the most important things and also infrastructure, of course, but policymaking and incentives are the main tools that we have been using. Tesla's CEO pledged to shift his focus back to the EV maker following a bitter and ongoing war of words with US President Donald Trump. The world's richest man has also fallen out with Nikolai Tangen, CEO of the world's largest sovereign wealth fund. Headquartered behind me, the fund is one of Tesla's top investors. What Elon Musk has been saying and doing the last year or so, it definitely affects people, but not too many, because their market share is remarkable, really. For six months of this year, about 17% of the market, total car market of new cars is Tesla's. Here in Oslo, demand for Tesla remains strong. The question now is whether the company can replicate its Nordic success across the region.
