Four men assaulted him, slashing his throat and stealing his belongings, including a gold cross, laptop, passport, and luggage. Pellegrino managed to escape and receive medical aid, narrowly avoiding a life-threatening injury. Italian police arrested the four suspects at another train station shortly after the attack, and they are also suspected of robbing another passenger earlier that day. Pellegrino is recovering in hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. A GoFundMe account has been established to assist with his medical expenses and the replacement of stolen items.

Well, we are learning more tonight about a San Francisco teacher who was violently robbed and attacked while vacationing in Italy. KTVU's Devin Truby has more on his terrifying ordeal and his condition. A violent attack of a San Francisco-based teacher while he was on vacation in Italy. 29-year-old Nicholas Pellegrino, a religion teacher and track coach at Archbishop Reardon High School, was on summer vacation before his fourth school year. His colleague, Danny Curtin, remembers talking with Pellegrino about the trip. He was really excited for this trip, you know, he's a New Yorker native, very in touch with his Italian roots and heritage, so I know he was excited for this trip. So hearing that at this point in the school year, it was shocking. On July 15th, while on his annual friend's trip, he boarded a train in Milan heading for Florence. Four men attacked him, slashing his throat. They stole his gold cross, laptop, passport and luggage. Pellegrino ran off the train. This photo of him receiving aid shows him covered in blood. In his own email, he said, you know, he was millimeters away from having a serious injury to a, you know, arterial pathway. So he was thankful for that, but it sounded like it was just a random attack. Pellegrino updated his co-workers via email on July 18th, their community in shock, and Pellegrino saying he didn't want to scare his students. Mr. P, as they like to call him, is one of their favorite teachers, right, and he's someone who's very thoughtful and fast engaging and someone that really means a lot to the community. Italian police arrested the four suspects at another train station about an hour after this attack. Investigators say these same four men may have attacked and robbed another train passenger earlier that day. In the meantime, doctors expect Pellegrino to make a full recovery after spending four days in an Italian hospital. The group pointed to a new wave of executions under Iran's regime and referenced an Amnesty International's report detailing years of human rights violations. This regime is going to keep on killing people until the last day that it is in power because it needs to have oppression inside Iran to stay in power. It has no popular support. Organizers say the world must take action to hold Iran accountable and support the Iranian people's fight for freedom.
