A robbery at a grocery store in Mississauga, Ontario targeted a currency exchange kiosk, where operator Sabir Syed was assaulted by multiple suspects. The assailants stole over $50,000 in less than a minute, leaving Syed with a fractured cheekbone.

Authorities believe the suspects are part of a network responsible for similar robberies in the region. Police are searching for four male suspects who fled in a white Honda CRV, while Syed's family has launched an online fundraiser to support his recovery.

A shocking robbery at a Mississauga, Ontario grocery store. Sabir Syed was sitting down at his currency exchange and money transfer kiosk inside the store getting ready to close up for the night. All of a sudden, a robber jumps over the kiosk's security window and immediately punches him. This punch was like on the face, so I got like nervous and I didn't know what happened. And then he started asking, where's the key, where's the key? Syed was assaulted by two other suspects while the first rifled through a safe. In just 40 seconds, the suspects escaped with more than $50,000, according to Syed. Everything changed for our family, you know, within a minute, it took one minute. Store staff and customers witnessed the incident. Some came to his aid. It's definitely brazen. It's concerning. There's no regard here for anything. And what we've seen pretty consistently is that these individuals are a network and their responsible for multiple robberies across the GTA. Syed says police took more than 20 minutes to arrive on scene, but Peel Police say plain clothes units were in the area within three minutes searching for the suspects. Police are looking for four male suspects who fled in a white Honda CRV. Acute, mildly. Syed suffered a fractured cheekbone. The husband and father of three says the stolen money wasn't insured. Police say this type of brazen robbery is similar to the rising trend of smash and grab thefts at jewelry stores. Syed's daughter launched an online fundraiser. Within two days, it's generated more than $18,000 in donations. Everyone was angered and frustrated about like what happened to my dad. My dad's 65 years old. He was assaulted by like young men and like he couldn't really even defend himself. Syed says he isn't sure when he'll be able to return to work while he recovers from his injuries.
