Over 3,200 machinists, responsible for building and maintaining fighter jets, voted against a proposed four-year agreement, citing concerns over wage increases and benefits. Boeing stated that the offer included a 40% average wage increase, a 20% general wage increase, a $5,000 ratification bonus, and additional vacation and sick leave. However, union members argued the real increase would only be about 12% over four years and would not keep pace with inflation. Boeing has announced plans to use non-union workers to maintain operations during the strike.

There was some conditional things with it so you know they tout that it's it's a 40% increase but it's really only a 12% increase for for everybody over the four years and the membership doesn't feel that that keeps up with inflation. It comes less than a year after the planmaker reached an agreement with more than 33,000 aircraft workers. That strike impacted production of Boeing's best-selling commercial planes for almost two months but in recent months the company has shown signs of a turnaround and earlier this year it secured a Pentagon contract to develop F-47 fighter jets. Nobody benefits in a strike, our employees won't, the company doesn't, our customers certainly don't. Boeing says it was prepared for the strike and will implement a contingency plan using non-union workers. In Los Angeles, Max Gordon, Fox 9.
