As clumsy as some may appear, humanoid robots use powerful AI tools and have potential widespread industrial and even military applications. China is investing heavily, 20 billion US dollars in the past year alone. So whilst androids may not yet dream of gold medals, when it comes to robotics, Beijing certainly wants a podium finish.
