Airports in New York, Denver, and other cities are reporting delays due to strong winds and thunderstorms, with some wait times exceeding two hours. Travelers are advised to remain patient and positive as they navigate one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The holiday hustle is upon us, and AAA predicts that over the next two weeks, a record 122 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home by planes, trains, and mostly automobiles, taking advantage of lower gas prices. The national average price for gas dipped below $3 a gallon, the cheapest holiday season for drivers in years. The FAA says today, with almost 52,000 flights, is the busiest of the holiday travel season, and more than 440,000 until December 27th. Strong winds at New York area airports put the brakes on timely departures. Thunderstorms in the region delayed arrivals at Newark International. How did you kill time? I mostly read a book. Whipping wind gusts up to 80 miles an hour caused delays at Denver International, averaging two hours. But the holiday spirit is on full display at George Bush Airport in Houston, where employees and passengers spread so much cheer even the Grinch couldn't hold back. At Portland International Airport in Oregon, Ivy's spore letter has some advice for travelers. Try not to be annoyed by all the airport drama if there is any. Just like, you're going on vacation, have fun. I mean, think about that. And despite the weather-related delays here at Newark, it could be worse. JFK and LaGuardia are both experiencing wait times that are over two hours at the moment. So everybody traveling this weekend, make sure to pack some patience. Yikes, Aliyah. I hope you get home safely tonight too.
