The red carpet here at this year's Arias has been so exciting because not only are there some favourites who've been coming here for years and years and years like UMI who are about to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but there are some brand new artists who a year ago were making music in their bedroom. This year's Arias has it all. I couldn't miss the Arias so I've flown straight in here and it's bloody great. The weather's fine. It's going to be a good night. I'm really jazzed to be performing, be nominated and be here. It's cool. I mean, beautiful people everywhere celebrating music, what's not to get amongst it? I've heard how exciting the awards are and it's just an honour to get to be here and I kick off my tour tonight so, you know, it's a busy day but I'm really grateful. I don't know, it's a testament to how incredible the music we release as a country is too because there are so many timeless bands that are continuing to come out of the country. My album really only came out three months ago so it's all happened very fast but it's all happening with my really long-term friends and team so, yeah, there's no other way I would ever have wanted this to happen. The impetus is a lot more in the artists to promote themselves. It's all out there. We just want to let people know that you've just got to go searching a little harder and don't wait for the big shows, go and see the small ones and it'll keep people like us off the streets. Last year's Hall of Fame inductee, the one and only Missy Higgins, made a very powerful speech about getting the music of Australian artists out to as many people as possible. She's up for four awards tonight. Does she think anything's changed? The focus on Australian music has become quite loud and at the forefront of people's minds a lot lately, especially in the last few months. So, yeah, on that front I think people are really starting to clue on to the fact that we need to support Australian music.
