National spending on Halloween decorations has surged, reaching levels nearly equal to costume spending and surpassing candy expenditures. Despite the intensity of some displays, many families continue to embrace the holiday's festive and spooky atmosphere.

He expects to give out more than 10,000 pieces of candy. Is it for the kids, or is it for the adults like you? Oh, it's for me, definitely. But it's for the kids. If you would stay out here one night and just see the kids, them running around and laughing, some of them are scared, some of them do cry. And this is telling. For the first time nationally, Americans spent almost as much money on Halloween decorations as they did on Halloween costumes, and more money than they spent on Halloween candy.
