The facility, known as Project Rainier, was built specifically for Anthropic, a competitor to OpenAI, which is already using the site to train its AI models with about 500,000 chips currently running and plans to double that capacity by the end of the year.

Amazon quietly started scouting land in rural Indiana in 2022 and it was able to turn a cornfield into a hyperscale A.I. compound in less than a year. One where Anthropic is already training its models inside. They're already running about 500000 chips in Indiana today. And in fact it's going so well that they've actually doubled down on that order. And we expect jointly we'll be running more than a million training two chips by the end of this year. It's called Project Rainier. Amazon's 11 billion dollar answer to open a Stargate. And while Meta breaks ground in Arkansas and XAI ramps up its colossus supercomputer in Memphis Amazon is already online. There is such demand for our models that I think the only way we would have been able to serve as much as we've been able to serve so far this year is this multi chip strategy because new data centers are coming online. We're getting the capacity that we can wherever we can. Amazon is deploying CapEx faster than its rivals. Exactly what the street is looking for when the hyperscalers start reporting after the bell today. Amazon spending is neck and neck with Microsoft which reports this afternoon. And investors want to know one if all that spend has been worth it and then two whether these cloud giants are going to try to match opening eyes one point four trillion dollars worth of compute deals.
