Australian Formula One driver Oscar Piastri will have a grandstand named in his honour at Albert Park, following his recent win at the Belgian Grand Prix and a strong season performance. The Oscar Piastri grandstand, an expansion of the existing Fangio grandstand, will be located on the pit straight and offer fans a view of the garage as well as a papaya merchandise pack.

Piastri has won six races this season and currently leads his teammate Lando Norris in the driver standings. No Australian has won their home Grand Prix since its inclusion in the Formula One calendar, and organisers hope the new grandstand will add to the excitement for local fans. Tickets for the grandstand are set to go on sale soon, with expectations for another record crowd at the event.

Do you have to be a Piastri fan to sit in the Piastri grandstand? Well, you have to be for that day, yes, of course you do. No Australian has won their home Grand Prix since it was included in the Formula One calendar. Now Oscar Piastri has the chance to create history and lift the trophy in front of local fans sitting in a grandstand that bears his name. And I know Oscar was pretty keen to change that this year and things didn't quite work out for him, so no doubt that'll be on his mind come March. Now he's got added motivation with his own grandstand. Piastri has won six races so far this season and leads his team-mate Lando Norris by nine points on top of the driver standings. An Australian hasn't won the World Championship since Alan Jones in 1980. Organisers are expecting another record crowd at Elbert Park next year, with tickets to go on sale next month.
