The timing couldn't be worse. Afghanistan's aid program has dropped from $3.2 billion three years ago to just $550 million now. The country these refugees once fled remains in economic freefall. As Iran shuts its doors, these Afghan families find themselves trapped and unwanted, returning to a homeland still gripped by the very crisis that forced them to flee in the first place.
