Authorities have not received any reports of injuries or damage, and New York City officials are asking residents to report any issues to 311. The city's emergency management is monitoring the situation, and transit services remain unaffected. The event was brief, and officials continue to gather information.

3.0 magnitude earthquake shakes tri-state area

Well, as we've been telling you, we've been following breaking news of a 3.0, what appears to be a 3.0 magnitude earthquake that originated in New Jersey. Let's get over to my colleague, Jessica Formoso, who had to shift gears right now, but I understand you've been able to look into this a little bit. What have you got? That's right, Arthur. Well, first of all, I just want to say that I was actually at my desk when I felt the shake and for a second I said, wait, is there construction in the building? And I realized it's, you know, past 10 o'clock and that couldn't be, but then I just let it go until we started getting reports that, yes, indeed, this, like we've been reporting, was an earthquake that originated in Hattiesburg, New Jersey. We're talking about a 3.0 quake. Right now, no word of damages at this point, but city officials here in New York City are asking residents to call 311 if they have felt or any damage to their homes or need help right away. I can tell you this, though, from people who have been calling us and texting us, it wasn't only felt here in New York City, but also as far as Long Island and Westchester County as well. I did speak to some relatives who live in New Jersey. I have a sister-in-law in Berkeley Heights. She told me she felt nothing. Some family members, also another sister-in-law in Bayonne, New Jersey, she felt nothing. So some of us felt it, some of us didn't. I want to pull up here. I was just—and I think you had said this, that the city here, the New York City Emergency Management is monitoring and investigating an incident, the possible of an earthquake magnitude 3 in New Jersey. They are asking anyone with life-threatening emergencies to call 911 and to report any damages through to 311. But again, this is developing. Right now, no reports of any injuries or damage. But I can tell you, we did feel it here in the newsroom. You felt it upstairs in the studio. People in Long Island felt it, people in Westchester County. Some people who live in New Jersey, I have relatives there, did not feel it, but others did. I'm looking on Twitter here. There is video, which we're going to work on it so you guys can see it. This woman has a Nest camera in her living room, and you see everything in that living room shake. It was brief, but it was definitely a shake. Of course, we will be monitoring the situation here, trying to get more information for you guys. And as soon as it's available, we'll bring it to you. Arthur? All right, Jessica, I don't know if you remember the last earthquake, if memory serves, and Liv brought it up, which was last spring. Yes. If you compare the two, I felt like this one was much more noticeable than the previous one. Do you have the same recollection? Well, you know what? That one, I was home, my shift didn't start yet, and I remember I was at my house when I felt the shake, and I looked up at the ceiling, and I have a chandelier, and that was shaking. I mean, here, like I said, it felt more of a construction in the building really quickly, and then I said, wait, that can't be. But I was confused. And I did think, I'm like, is this an earthquake? But I was like, no. But if I had to compare the both, I think it was two different situations. At that point, I was at home on Long Island, and I did feel it. I'm going to say it was probably the same, maybe a little bit more this time around, but the last time I felt it. Arthur, I felt it. All right, thanks. And as you go away, and stop me if what you see is different, thus far, a check of New York City Transit, and subways in particular, does not seem to have disrupted service at this point. So, again, we bring up the fact that the bedrock in this part of the country is very solid, so when something shakes there, it's felt, the effects of it ripple out in feeling, but in terms of damage right now, city officials are looking into it. We don't see any just yet, and I'll have Jessica correct me if I'm wrong there. We're going to take this opportunity for a quick break, look into this some more. We'll come back right after that.
