Wildlife caregivers at the San Diego Humane Society's Ramona Wildlife Center have been caring for an orphaned black bear cub using an innovative approach: dressing in bear costumes. This method aims to prevent the cub from becoming attached to humans, which could jeopardize its ability to survive in the wild. The cub, believed to have been abandoned, was cared for around the clock and provided with a surrogate teddy bear to mimic a natural upbringing. 

The cost of caring for the cub is about $200 a day, funded by donations. The bear has since been moved to a wildlife center near San Francisco, where it is living with two other cubs. Caregivers hope the cub will be ready for release into the wild in the future, equipped with the skills needed for survival.
