Denmark has become the latest European nation to require women to participate in compulsory military service, following similar measures in Norway and Sweden. The new policy mandates that both men and women take part in Conscription Day, with selection determined by a lottery system due to insufficient volunteer numbers. The duration of service in Denmark has also been extended from four to eleven months. 

Norway introduced compulsory military service for women in 2013, implementing it in 2016, while Sweden has had mixed-gender conscription since 2017. Although military service remains compulsory for men in several other European countries, only a few have extended this requirement to women. Women currently make up about 10% of military personnel in Europe, with ongoing discussions about universal service in countries like Latvia and Lithuania.
