The strike reportedly resulted in the deaths of 11 gang members. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the group as a designated narco-terrorist organization and highlighted the administration's recent increase in the bounty for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, linking him to drug cartels.

This action is part of a broader U.S. military buildup in the region, which includes the deployment of battleships, destroyers, and the amphibious assault ship Iwo Jima with over 2,500 Marines. In response, President Maduro has deployed 15,000 troops to Venezuela's border, calling the U.S. buildup the greatest threat to the continent in a century.
