The administration's proposals include expanding social media vetting for all foreign student visa applicants and potentially barring entry based on certain political statements. While security risks are cited as a reason for the changes, experts point out that existing vetting procedures already address many of these concerns. The policies are expected to have a particularly strong impact on students from China.
