A SpaceX Starship rocket exploded in a large fireball at the company's Starbase facility in Texas during an engine test. The incident, which caused flames to burn for over 90 minutes, resulted in no reported injuries. SpaceX described the event as a major anomaly and suggested a ruptured nitrogen tank may have been responsible.

This marks the fourth unplanned loss of a Starship vehicle this year, following previous failures in January, March, and a recent breakup over the Indian Ocean. The Starship Super Heavy is central to SpaceX's long-term goals, including Mars colonization and NASA's Artemis program, which plans to use a version of Starship for lunar missions. The company has stated there are no hazards to local communities, and investigations are ongoing to determine the impact on future testing schedules.
