AAA is forecasting a record-breaking travel period for the Fourth of July, with over 72 million Americans expected to travel, including more than 61 million by car. The organization notes that gas prices are lower than the previous year, which may be an added incentive for road trips, though not the primary reason for increased travel.

Air travel is also set to reach new highs, with nearly six million travelers expected to fly. AAA advises travelers to plan ahead, leave early to avoid peak traffic, and consider cost-saving measures such as booking flights on weekdays and packing their own snacks. Additionally, summer cruising, especially to destinations like Alaska via Seattle and Vancouver, is a notable trend this season.
