Scientists have achieved a significant milestone in solar observation by using advanced adaptive optics technology to obtain the most detailed images yet of the sun's corona. The new system, called Coronal Adaptive Optics, involves a specially designed lens that is adjusted over 2,000 times per second to compensate for Earth's atmospheric turbulence, resulting in a tenfold increase in image resolution.

The high-resolution visuals have revealed intricate phenomena such as 'coronal rain,' where plasma falls back toward the sun's surface, and other complex features that scientists are still working to understand. These findings are expected to provide valuable insights into the sun's outer atmosphere and may help solve longstanding mysteries about solar activity.
