Detainees and their families have described the conditions as inhumane, citing lack of access to food, water, beds, and limited ability to contact family or legal counsel.

Sources familiar with the downtown facility state that migrants are held in overcrowded rooms with inadequate sanitation, and that the centers are being used beyond their intended temporary purpose. Despite multiple requests, officials from ICE and DHS have not responded to questions about the conditions or possible overcapacity at these centers.
