Concerns have arisen regarding vaccination rates, which may be insufficient to curb the disease's spread. In the Halton region near Toronto, less than 25% of seven-year-olds are reported as fully vaccinated, although public health officials suspect the actual number could be higher. The lack of awareness about how to report vaccinations is contributing to these issues.

Alberta is experiencing a similar challenge, with only 72% of grade two children fully immunized, and some areas having vaccination rates below 50%. The province has seen 193 cases so far, even in towns with lower vaccination levels such as Tabor. The highly contagious nature of measles among unvaccinated individuals has compelled health officials to take immediate action.

Efforts are being made to combat misinformation surrounding measles vaccines, which are preventive when administered in two doses. Public health officials advocate for increased visibility and accessibility of vaccination services. Requests for interviews with chief medical officers in Ontario and Alberta have yet to receive a response.
