Both men, aged 100 and 99, are among the last five surviving Rangers who participated in the D-Day landings in Normandy and contributed to the liberation of Europe.

The Army Rangers, whose history predates the Revolutionary War, played a crucial role during D-Day, where nearly 400 were killed or wounded. The ceremony included tributes from Iraq War veteran and Senator Tammy Duckworth, emphasizing the enduring legacy and sacrifice of the Rangers.
