Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated the operation was aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rearming, while Hezbollah accused Israel of crossing a red line. The incident comes as Israel's military leadership faces internal disciplinary actions over failures during the October 7th attack, and amid public calls for an independent inquiry into the government's handling of that event.
