All residents except one, who remains unaccounted for, were evacuated before the disaster struck. Authorities had anticipated a possible incident due to glacier retreat and destabilizing rock faces, but the speed and severity of the collapse were unexpected. 

The area remains unstable, preventing cleanup efforts, and scientists are being flown in to assess ongoing risks. While no further evacuations are currently planned, the surrounding region is on high alert. Displaced residents are uncertain about their future, with questions about compensation and the possibility of returning to their homes.
