The inquiry found that around 1,500 people died in 72 hours, with nearly a dozen armed factions implicated. Survivors described facing collective punishment, harassment, and being denied proper burials for their loved ones. 

The investigation involved interviews with over 200 families, community leaders, and security officials, as well as the review of videos, social media posts, and official communications. Evidence indicated that the chain of command for the attacks led directly to individuals now serving in Syria’s new government. President Ahmad al-Sharra has ordered an official investigation, stating that all perpetrators will be held accountable.
