Despite intensified mediation by Qatar, the United States, and Egypt, talks have stalled, with both Hamas and Israel accusing each other of obstructing progress. The proposed agreement seeks a 60-day truce and the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas.

The deadlock centers on Israel's demand to maintain a military presence in about a third of Gaza, a condition rejected by Hamas, which insists on a full Israeli withdrawal and a permanent ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has only agreed to a partial withdrawal, maintaining that Israel's objectives are to free all hostages, disarm Hamas, and remove the group from Gaza.
