Supporters of the bill highlighted its significance for patients enduring severe illness, while critics expressed concerns about potential societal pressure on vulnerable individuals. Alongside the assisted dying bill, lawmakers also approved a €1.1 billion package to expand palliative care services, including new centres and legal recourse for those denied care.
