Medical facilities in the region are noting a rise in such cases as food becomes scarce. Over half of the population in Gaza is experiencing hunger, with many residents struggling to obtain even one meal per day. A mother of seven reports dire conditions, with her children consuming only a single meal daily in the absence of sufficient food supplies.

The situation in Gaza has worsened over the past 50 days due to an Israeli blockade that has restricted the delivery of aid. Both the United Nations World Food Programme and local charities have exhausted their food stocks. The blockade has withheld 116,000 metric tons of food from entering Gaza, enough to sustain the two million inhabitants for approximately two months. In addition to the food crisis, shortages in fuel disrupt electricity and water supplies, impacting hospital operations and availability of medicines.

Access to life-sustaining resources continues to decline as the humanitarian crisis exacerbates. The lack of food, power, and medical care places the most vulnerable, including children and pregnant women, at severe risk. Gaza requires a minimum of 600 trucks of supplies daily, a target that has not been met for over a year and a half due to the blockade. The impact of these shortages is profound, with countless hospitalized malnourished children, yet a dearth of nutrition supplies and medications to provide adequate care.
