Chartered evacuation flights organized by the state of Florida have started arriving in Tampa, carrying nearly 1,500 Jewish Americans who were in Israel. Many of the evacuees were young participants in the Birthright Israel program, and their journey included a cruise ship transfer from Israel to Cyprus before flying to the United States.

Agencies coordinating the evacuations, such as Gray Bull Rescue, report that over 4,000 people have signed up for these flights, with expectations that the number could rise. The evacuations were prompted by growing safety concerns, including recent missile strikes in Israel. Additional flights are expected as more people seek to leave the region.
