Europe is warming at twice the rate of the global average, resulting in increasingly frequent and severe heatwaves. Scientists highlight that temperatures previously considered rare are now becoming common, with France experiencing the 40-degree threshold far more often than in the past. 

This trend has led to significant health impacts, including thousands of heat-related deaths across European cities. Experts attribute the warming to climate change driven by fossil fuel use, emphasizing the need for both mitigation and adaptation as extreme weather becomes a regular occurrence.
