A recent study by the Digital Forensic Research Lab has found that Grok, the AI chatbot created by Elon Musk's xAI, provided misleading and inaccurate responses to user queries about the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran. The chatbot was found to incorrectly identify AI-generated and unrelated videos as authentic footage from the conflict, and to base its answers on outdated media reports.

Researchers also noted that Grok failed to verify the authenticity of its sources and sometimes misattributed disinformation to official accounts. Experts warn that as users increasingly turn to AI chatbots for fact-checking, these tools may inadvertently amplify disinformation and conspiracy theories.
