Non-governmental organizations also expressed disappointment over the absence of a clear roadmap to eliminate fossil fuels, a goal supported by over 190 countries at COP28. In response, the COP30 president pledged to pursue separate initiatives on deforestation and fossil fuel transition, while the agreement did include a significant increase in climate adaptation funding to $120 billion per year by 2035.
